The Advisor

A New Hampshire native. A Portsmouth advisor. A quiet expert on the coast.

Twenty-five years in Portsmouth. Twenty-two of them selling homes across the Seacoast and Southern Maine.

The short version

Twenty-two years. Two states. One advisor who follows through.

Julie grew up in New Hampshire, came of age in Maine, learned the business in Colorado, and has spent the last twenty-five years living in Portsmouth — twenty-two of them licensed on both sides of the Piscataqua.

That path is the reason a client never has to hand a Maine question to a second agent, and never has to wonder whether a detail was caught. The chapters below are how she got here. The promise is simpler: she reads everything, she answers the same day, and she stays with the file until the keys change hands.

01 · Where she's from

A New Hampshire childhood.

Julie was born and raised in Contoocook — a village inside the town of Hopkinton, in central New Hampshire. It's the kind of place that gives a person a set of quiet reference points: what a real town green looks like, what a covered bridge sounds like on a summer afternoon, how a New Hampshire winter actually behaves.

She grew up here knowing the state in her bones — not as a market, but as a place.

02 · Where she studied

Four years at Bates.

Julie left New Hampshire for Bates College, in south-central Maine — one of the country's original small liberal arts colleges. She studied, made lifelong friends, and quietly became someone who could hold two states as home.

When she talks about Maine now, it isn't as a service area on the other side of the Piscataqua. It's the place she came of age. It shows in how she works with clients moving into Southern Maine.

03 · Where she learned the business

A first career in Colorado.

Julie's first years in real estate were spent in Boulder, Colorado — a market with its own particular rigor, a client base that expected transparency, and a landscape big enough to teach anyone humility.

She built her working style there: patient, thorough, and unhurried. When she moved back east, she brought that with her.

04 · WHERE SHE HELPED BUILD SOMETHING

Bean Group, from the beginning.

Julie returned to New Hampshire in 2003 and joined her future husband, Michael Bean, in the earliest days of Bean Group. She was part of building the company from the inside — the operations, the culture, the early client work — during the years when the brokerage was becoming what it is today.

As the company grew and Julie and Michael were raising a daughter, she stepped back from full-time client work — continuing as a Founding Partner, licensed and involved, but focused on family and on the brokerage itself. She has now stepped back in as part of Bean Group's next chapter with eXp Realty, bringing the same standards she has always held, and the deliberate time to give each client her full attention.

05 · Where she chose to live

Twenty-five years on the Seacoast.

New Hampshire pulled her home. She and her husband settled in Portsmouth deliberately — not because it was convenient, but because they had chosen it. They've been here more than twenty-five years, raised their family here, and watched Portsmouth grow into what it is today without losing what made it worth choosing in the first place.

She knows which streets get the harbor breeze in July. Which South End blocks feel like a small village. Which back roads through Rye lead to the best stretch of coast. Which Kittery Point restaurant is quietly the best one going. Twenty-five years in one place is its own kind of expertise.

She also knows the state she was born into — the lakes to the north, the trails through the White Mountains, the way the interior of New Hampshire feels different from the coast. She spends most of her free time outdoors, and it's not a marketing detail — it's why she stayed.

06 · How she works

Three things every client comes back for.

Two decades across two states narrow down to three habits. They are the whole difference between a sale that feels handled and one that doesn't.

01

Communication

You'll always know where you stand.

Julie returns every call the same day and answers every text the same hour. In a business where a slow callback can be the whole problem, that alone changes the experience.

02

Attention to detail

The parts most agents miss.

Julie reads the fine print, catches the small mistakes, and asks the questions no one else thought to ask. The details that turn a smooth closing into a stressful one — she sees them first.

03

Empathy

It's more than a transaction.

Selling a parents' home. Buying a first one. Relocating a family. Julie has done this long enough to know that the transaction is rarely just a transaction, and she works accordingly.

07 · Track record
